Laminate flooring versus wood flooring which one is better?
In the flooring world homeowners have struggled with the decision to purchase wood flooring vs. laminate for generations because, each type of flooring has it’s positive and negative points to consider.
In this post were going to cover both the pros and cons of laminate flooring versus wood flooring so that you know which flooring you should choose for your Bend Oregon home.
Laminate Flooring
When it comes to choosing laminate flooring, most people I know typically choose this type of floor because it’s usually more affordable than wood flooring.
Laminate flooring installation will cost you an average of 50% less than it would cost to install a hardwood floor in your home but, before purchasing laminate flooring because it’s cheaper than wood flooring, make sure that it’s a type of flooring that you will really enjoy every day.
Laminate Flooring Durability
Many real estate agents love laminate flooring because it’s made from pressed wood and is more durable when it comes to dealing with the daily wear and tear of foot traffic in a home.
Laminate flooring is also easier to clean than wood flooring but, it may not be as visually appealing for you as a wood floor so once again your choice when choosing laminate versus wood flooring depends upon how long you plan on living in the home and the long-term enjoyment of having real wood vs. laminate flooring.
Laminate Flooring Over time
Although choosing laminate flooring may be an easy decision one thing to keep in mind is that laminate flooring isn’t always easy to maintain especially if the laminate floor is in a high-traffic area of your home like a kitchen or near windows that let natural sunlight in all day.
If you plan on choosing laminate flooring, make sure that you purchase extra pieces of flooring, that way if you need to replace any peace or section of your laminate floor in the future you won’t have to go through the hassle of finding matching pieces of laminate flooring at local stores like Home Depot.
Wood Flooring
If you watch any Real Estate show on television like House Hunters almost every home buyer on those shows will state that they prefer wood flooring over any other type of floor.
The reason why many home buyers prefer real wood floors vs. laminate floors is because wood flooring looks beautiful and will only help to increase the value of a home in the years to come.
Before choosing wood flooring you not only have to weigh the cost of the flooring itself but also how much it cost to install it including the long-term cost of maintaining the wood floor.
Wood Floor Maintenance
When it comes time to repair damaged or highly trafficked sections of a wood floor, all you need to do is sand and refinish the floor.
The good thing is that if you don’t want to sand or refinish the wood floor yourself, you can hire a contractor to do it for you or someone in Bend who specializes in wood flooring.
