Two local non-profit organizations are accepting memorial donations in honor of our founder, Terry Skjersaa, and his beloved wife Renee.
The Central Oregon Avalanche Center empowers our local backcountry community by providing accurate weather, snowpack and avalanche information, and is recognized as a Type 2 avalanche center. In addition to providing forecasting and hosting educational events throughout the community, COAC maintains the Moon Mountain and Tyler Heilman weather stations.
The Deschutes County Search and Rescue Foundation directly supports the volunteers who serve on medical, mountain rescue, swiftwater and other rescue teams. The DCSAR Foundation provides outreach to educate the community on wilderness safety, and works with local schools, organizations and businesses to facilitate presentations by experts from its Speakers Bureau.
Both organizations provide invaluable resources to our local community and a gift of any amount helps them continue their important work, especially as backcountry recreation in Central Oregon grows.
