If you’re selling your home and plan on listing it online, you should invest in a professional photographer to take your listing photos because, in 2015 more home buyers than ever before search for homes ONLINE and ultimately buy their homes by way of the internet.

Why it’s Important to Take Great Photos

The typical person who is searching online for products, services, information or homes for sale will spend between 5 and 10 seconds viewing or reading information and if the pictures or information doesn’t capture their attention they will click on to something else.

This means you literally have 10 seconds or less to capture the attention of someone who is searching for homes in your neighborhood or area, and if you have poor quality photos, that buyer will click to another listing.

Don’t Take Those Photos Yourself

Although it’s easy to take photos in this day and age thanks to iPhones, tablets and digital cameras, most people will take bad photos of their listings since they often will not think about using good lighting for interior shots, or staging their home before they start taking pictures. A recent article from Redfin includes research data on professional real estate photography.

“In fact, a 2013 Redfin study found that homes professionally photographed with high-performance Digital Single-Lens Reflex (DSLR) sold quicker and for thousands of dollars, more than homes shot with amateur photos. DSLR cameras are also the preferred camera of Redfin’s national photography manager, Drew Larrigan.”

What Does A Professional Photographer Really Cost?

Depending on where you search for a photographer you may be able to find someone to take pictures of your home for $200 or less since hourly rates vary.

When you consider that the sale of your home represents what could potentially be the most expensive financial transaction of your life, it just makes sense to hire a photographer who will have the right equipment and skills to take beautiful photos of your home before you list it.
