Learn How To Add Curb Appeal To Your Home Without Breaking The Bank

By Jason Boone

Homeowners are always concerned about one major thing and that’s adding curb appeal to their homes because, curb appeal has been proven to increase a home’s value, but many people won’t tell you how to add curb appeal without spending thousands of dollars.

In today’s post I will reveal 15 ways you can add curb appeal to your home for under $100 each.

Tip 1 – Buy New House Numbers

Since your house number is something which will catch the eye of visitors to your home you should invest in new numbers for your home. New house numbers cost as little as $6 per number at most stores and it’s an investment which will last for years.

Tip 2 – Clean Up Your Gutters

Before winter hits take the time to clean out your gutters by hand, or power wash them, then take the time to give your gutters a fresh coat of paint. This paid improvement will cost you practically nothing and it will help your gutters to function normally when we have heavy rain or snowfall.

Tip 3 – Use Hanging Hooks

One of the coolest things you can do for your covered entryway is to add hanging hooks outside your door because you can use those hooks to hang coats, hats or dog leashes. Make sure you use fabric hooks though because, they are ornamental and practical at the same time.

Tip 4 – Buy A New Porch Light

Your porch light says a lot about your home. You can buy a new porch light and fixture at most major stores for under $100, or for a lot less than that at your local Re-Store.

Tip 5 – Choose A Brand New Doormat

The doormat to your home is also something which sets a first impression. You should choose a new doormat every 6 months because, they get worn out easily and are less useful after they’ve been used a lot.

Tip 6 – Invest In Matching Planter Pots or Boxes

If you love outdoor gardening try buying matching planter pots or planter boxes. This will add a sense of symmetry to your home and make it look more inviting from the street.

Tip 7 – Paint Your Front Door

Besides being something which you open to welcome people into your home your front door should also “pop” from the street and be noticeable. Don’t be afraid to choose a bold color for your front door because this will only help to enhance the character of your home.

Tip 8 – Purchase a New Mail Box

Mail boxes are usually the last thing to be improved when it comes to curb appeal. It doesn’t matter if you have a box which is attached to your home, or it’s by the curb, you should buy a new mailbox because your mailbox can also set a positive or negative impression about your home from the curb.

Tip 9 – Trim Those Hedges

The time to trim them up and give those hedges shape because, having landscaping which looks like a jungle does nothing to improve your homes curb appeal.

Tip 10 – Wash Those Windows

Your windows should be washed inside and out because, they are the first thing potential home buyers will look out from if you’re selling your home and cleaning windows will cost you nothing but the time you invest in cleaning them.

Tip 11 – Add Window Boxes

Want to make your home look like a cozy cottage? Try adding one or two window boxes to your home. This curb appeal improvement is very inexpensive and will enable you to plant beautiful flowers in them every year.

Tip 12 – Paint the Numbers on Your Curb

As with replacing the numbers on your home you should also paint the numbers on your curb at least once a year because those numbers get rubbed off and worn down over time but they still serve a practical purpose because curb numbers also help people to find your home from the street.

Tip 13 – Clean Your Driveway

When was the last time you really cleaned your driveway? If the answer is never you can add value to your home and improve its curb appeal by renting a power washer for the weekend to clean your driveway thoroughly.

Tip 14 – Create Paths in Your Landscape

If you have a big yard consider investing in pavers to create paths in your yard. For example: you can create a path to your mail box or just add pavers adjacent to your driveway so people won’t have to walk up your driveway from the street.

Tip 15 – Paint Those Eaves

Last of all, but most important, you can improve the curb appeal of your home by painting your homes eaves. The eaves typically wear down quicker than the paint on the rest of your home and they can be easily repainted in one weekend.
